Emission factor summary

Emissions generated by the activity within the product supply chain as described in ecoinvent v3.10. The product melamine formaldehyde resin' is a plastic product of fossil origin it is not biodegradable and it is a thermoset material. This product consists of 100% virgin material with no content of recycled material. The product is used in the following applications and sectors: widely used to cure high molecular weight solid epoxy resins at elevated temperatures (up to 200 °C) for metal can drum and coil coatings applications. The resultant coatings have excellent chemical resistance good mechanical properties and no effects on taste (adding or taking away taste from packaged foods or drinks). The vast majority of the food and beverage cans produced in theworld today are coated internally with epoxy-formaldehyde resin coatings. The can and coil coatings generally are crosslinked with phenol melamine or urea-formaldehyde condensation products at elevated temperatures (150-200 °C) with acid catalysts. The cut-off classification is allocatable product. The activity type is ordinary transforming activity. The reference product amount is 1.
