Emission factor summary

Emissions generated by the activity within the product supply chain as described in ecoinvent v3.10. The product nuclear-grade zirconium sponge is the product of the Kroll process during which the pure ZrCl4 obtained from the zirconium / hafnium separation process is reduced by adding magnesium to zirconium sponge and magnesium chloride. The main use for zirconium sponge is in the nuclear industry where it is used for the production of zirconium alloys for nuclear reactor components such as cladding for fuel rods. For nuclear applications a minimum content of hafnium is needed. The cut-off classification is allocatable product. The activity type is ordinary transforming activity. The reference product amount is 1.
