No – PCF Studio is designed to be accessible without a background in life cycle assessment. The tool guides you step-by-step through data upload, emission factor mapping, and calculation – handling much of the technical complexity for you.
Yes – PCF Studio is currently in private beta and open to new testers. Beta participants get free access to the tool and lock in a discounted price when the product is released to general availability.
PCF Studio calculations are aligned with the GHG Protocol Product Life Cycle Accounting and Reporting Standard and ISO 14067. We are currently in the ISO 14067 certification process and expect to complete this in Q2. Transport emissions are calculated using Climatiq’s GLEC-accredited freight calculation engine, and energy estimates are already certified according to ISO 14067.
PCF Studio provides data quality indicators (DQIs) in accordance with the PACT framework. All results come with a full audit trail for transparency.
PCF Studio draws from Climatiq’s database containing hundreds of vetted datasets, including sources such as Agribalyse, Circular Ecology, OEKOBAUDAT, Plastics Europe and more. Premium data sources including ecoinvent, Carbon Minds and Sustamize can also be added.

PCF Studio currently supports cradle-to-gate calculations by default, covering material sourcing, freight, and manufacturing inputs.
PCF Studio calculates emissions expressed in CO2e, accounting for GWP100. Currently, no other environmental impacts are covered, but this may be added in the future.

The PCF is calculated based on a bill of materials (BoM) for each product, along with manufacturing energy and freight data where available. Where data is missing, PCF Studio uses AI-powered gap-filling with transparent, adjustable estimates so your calculations can proceed without complete data, and you can work on improving the data over time.
