At Climatiq, our mission is simple: to drive climate action through data and insight by making it easy for businesses to measure and manage their environmental impact. This mission naturally aligns with the B Corp movement, which aims to foster a global economy that is inclusive, equitable, and sustainable.
A year ago, we shared our diversity, equity, and inclusion goals, laying out the values we aim to practice. Additionally, we announced that we had achieved the B Corp Pending status, a special designation by B Lab for newer companies like ours that are committed to social and environmental performance but haven't yet reached the operational time required for full B Corp certification. This demonstrated our early commitment as we started working towards meeting the necessary criteria for full certification. Today, we're thrilled to announce that Climatiq has earned B Corp certification.
B Corporations are businesses that demonstrate the highest standards of social and environmental impact, are accountable to stakeholders, and operate transparently. These are companies that take their social and environmental responsibility as seriously as their financial performance and profits. The B Impact Assessment is an unbiased and rigorous evaluation of an organization across five key dimensions: governance, workers, community, environment, and customers.
During the certification process, a B Lab analyst reviews the submitted data and information. They may pinpoint areas that need improvement or clarification. Achieving certification is challenging, requiring a minimum score across a diverse range of business metrics. Those that meet or surpass this score earn the coveted B Corp status. Companies must also undergo recertification every three years, ensuring a focus on continuous improvement and long-term engagement.
We’re proud to join a network of over 7,000 progressive organizations in 90 countries dedicated to using business as a force for good. B Corp status is not just a label; it's a validation of our commitment to embedding sustainability into the heart of our operations and helping other businesses to do the same. It is a commitment to our customers, employees, and investors.
As a member of this group, we will expand our existing programs, such as ethical vetting of customers, free access to academia and non-profits, team-wide 360-feedback, and - of course! - GHG emissions tracking and reduction. As our team grows and the company matures, we’ll continue to introduce new processes and initiatives to further amplify our impact.
