Data Release 26

This is Data Release 26, released on September 18th, 2025. To use the (automatically-updating) dynamic version, you can use ^26. To use the fixed (unchanging) version, you can use 26. See more information about our data versioning scheme at the reference page.

Simplified data versions
We have simplified how we talk about and accept data versions based on user feedback. The 26.26 version format still works and is equivalent to the new fixed version format 26.

New Data

  • DISER/DCCEEW (NGER) 2025: Electricity generation and fuel combustion emission factors for Australia.
  • EEI 2024: US electricity generation and residual mix supplier specific data.
  • ICM Database 2019: Construction and building materials emission factors for Australia. CO2e is provided using two methods:
  • Process: based on embodied GHG emissions from AusLCI process data.
  • Hybrid: combines AusLCI process data with input–output (IO) data to capture upstream activities (e.g. services, finance, equipment).
  • DEFRA/BEIS 2021-2024: Added additional transport and energy data for years 2021 to 2024.
  • DiXi Group (Green Transition Office) 2025: Electricity production mix and transmission & distribution (T&D) losses data for Ukraine for years 2020-2023.
  • EPA e-GRID 2023: Average electricity emission factors for US.

Data Changed

  • IEA: Several corrections of names, activity IDs, descriptions, specifically:
  • Updated names and activity IDs for all 2023 provisional data to reflect production mix values since imports and exports are excluded (no trade adjustments).
  • Updated the descriptions for the well-to-tank data applicable for the years 2020-2022.
  • Added a partial data quality flag to all provisional 2023 electricity emission factors, as only the CO2 value is provided. The values of the constituent gases CH4 and N2O are marked as not-supplied (they were previously marked as 0).
  • Removed the 2023 electricity emission factor data for Benin, Bolivia, Côte d’Ivoire, El Salvador, Senegal, and Zimbabwe because the published zeros were placeholders for missing data, not actual values.
  • Government of Canada & UBA - Austria: Updated names of electricity production mix data and transmission & distribution losses of electricity production mix data.
  • UBA - Austria: Updated descriptions of transmission & distribution losses of electricity production mix data to reflect how the emission factor has been calculated.
  • EEI: Updated the US electricity supplier specific data applicable for 2023, based on the latest released data.
  • AusLCI: Harmonized a couple of names and activity IDs to be consistent with similar activities in other datasets.
  • DEFRA/BEIS: Several corrections to names, activity IDs, and LCA activities, specifically:
  • Normalized vehicle names across years by harmonizing van subtypes, class labels, vehicle weights, and HGV tonnage phrasing.
  • Simplified names for waste emission factors.
  • Harmonized class naming for flights.
  • All activity IDs for freight vehicles now start with freight_vehicle for consistency.
  • Added vehicle weight to activity IDs where it was missing.
  • Corrected the fuel source on several activity IDs for vehicles.
  • Added the vehicle class to activity IDs where it was missing.
  • Changed percentage load on specific vehicle activity IDs to average.
  • Corrected the LCA activity for scope 3.4|3.9 of BEV and PHEV vans.
  • Corrected categorization for emission factors with the activity units mile and km, they are all categorized under Vehicles now.
