Data Release 9

This is Data Release 9, released on February 6th, 2024. To use the (automatically-updating) dynamic version, you can use ^9. To use the fixed (unchanging) version, you can use 9. See more information about our data versioning scheme at the reference page.

Simplified data versions
We have simplified how we talk about and accept data versions based on user feedback. The 9.9 version format still works and is equivalent to the new fixed version format 9.

Data Added

We have added 158 new emission factors, including CBAM's default values for iron, steel, aluminum, cement, and fertilizers; Green-e's 2022 and 2023 electricity residual mix data; and the latest 2023 fuel emission factors from the Government of Canada.

Data Changed

This list only covers major changes. Changes covering a smaller subset of emission factors, or changes such as name or description changes, are not listed. Find a link at the end of this document to a structured table listing all changes.

  • We fixed the applicable year for data coming from Climate Trace, Green-e, and GEMIS to reflect the year from which the data can be used.
  • The dataset "National Inventory Report 1990-2021: Greenhouse Gas Sources and Sinks in Canada" from the Canadian government has been renamed to "National Inventory Report".
  • Source links and descriptions have been updated for more than a thousand emission factors to keep the links up-to-date and elaborate on where the data originates in the descriptions.

Data Removed

  • No data has been removed.
