Data Release 15

This is Data Release 15, released on July 18th, 2024. To use the (automatically-updating) dynamic version, you can use ^15. To use the fixed (unchanging) version, you can use 15. See more information about our data versioning scheme at the reference page.

Simplified data versions
We have simplified how we talk about and accept data versions based on user feedback. The 15.15 version format still works and is equivalent to the new fixed version format 15.

Data Added

This data release introduces:

  • AIB's latest dataset for 2024, including electricity total supplier mix, production mix and residual mix emission factors.
  • CO2e emissions data for consumer goods and equipment in China, provided by the Chinese Academy of Environmental Planning (CAEP).
  • Electricity emissions data from eGRID, specifically added:
    • US state level for 2023
    • US state level for 2024
    • US state level for 2020
    • US eGRID subregion for 2020
    • US eGRID subregion (non-baseload) for 2020

Data Changed

This list only covers major changes. Changes covering a smaller subset of emission factors, or changes such as name or description changes, are not listed. Find a link at the end of this document to a structured table listing all changes.

  • We've updated the GLEC dataset names to reflect the version of the reports, and updated the year published and the source link for the older dataset.
  • We've updated the dataset name of all US electricity data, they are now under the eGRID dataset.
  • We've added CO2e values to US electricity data that previously only included the constituent gases CO2, CH4, and N2O.
  • We've fixed a couple of emission values of transport data from EPA that currently released corrections.
  • We've updated the descriptions of the data from the GHG Protocol tool.
