Data Release 17
This is Data Release 17, released on September 16th, 2024.
To use the (automatically-updating) dynamic version, you can use ^17.
To use the fixed (unchanging) version, you can use 17.

Simplified data versions
We have simplified how we talk about and accept data versions based on user feedback. The
17.17 version format still works and is equivalent to the new fixed version format 17.New Data
- EPA spend-based dataset 2024: Supply Chain Greenhouse Gas Emission Factors v1.3
- Electricity supplier mix data and transmission & distribution losses for Canadian regions provided by the Government of Canada.
- EEI US electricity supplier specific data
- Cooling and Heat and Steam emission factors for US and Canada provided by the Energy Star - Portfolio Manager under EPA.
- Fuel emission factors sourced from the Netherlands Enterprise Agency.
- AR6 Global Warming Potentials for Refrigerants retrieved from GHG Protocol and originally sourced from IPCC
Data Changed
This list only covers major changes. Changes covering a smaller subset of emission factors, or changes such as name or description changes, are not listed. Find a link at the end of this document to a structured table listing all changes.
- We have updated electricity emission factors for Canadian regions.
- We have updated US electricity supplier specific data from EEI.
- We have normalized the names of emission factors for the same activity across different years.
- We have updated the names and descriptions of the open-loop and closed-loop emission factors to clearly indicate that they refer to recycling emission factors.
- We have corrected names and activity ids of biogenic emission factors from CBAM and GHG Protocol.
- We have corrected a previously unclear part of the EXIOBASE data descriptions.
- We have corrected the emission factor values for pulp and paper from Climate Trace.
- We have corrected the categorization of a few emission factors from Oekobaudat and ecoinvent.
Data Removed
- We removed 36 emission factors with incorrect zero values from the spend-based dataset for New Zealand, provided by Market Economics Limited.
- We deleted 3 duplicate emission factors for hotel stays in Singapore.
